# Link preferences

Click Aventail's menu-bar icon → **Preferences…** to check your device, manage models and change startup or appearance settings.

### Explore Aventail Link preferences

1.  **Check your device and connection**
    
    Check Version, Local API, GPU, Control link and Health. Copy the API address or open Control, logs and diagnostics from this panel.

2.  **Manage installed models**
    
    Use the model checkbox to enable or disable serving. Read the model details and status; Test and Remove are on the same row.

3.  **Download another model**
    
    Choose a model under Available to download and select Download. Wait for installation to finish before enabling serving.

4.  **Choose startup and appearance**
    
    Use Start at login and the System, Light or Dark theme options. The uninstall action is separate, under Danger zone.

## Device

| Field or control | Use it to |
| --- | --- |
| Node, Device id, Version | Identify this installation and its release |
| Local API → copy | Copy the endpoint for your software; the example uses `http://localhost:8100/v1` |
| GPU | Check the detected accelerator and available memory |
| Control link, Health | Check the management connection and local health separately |
| Open Control Plane | Open Control in your browser |
| Open logs folder, Save diagnostics | Find troubleshooting information |

## Models

Each installed model shows its name, quantisation, size, context and status. Use the checkbox beside it to enable or disable serving; finish active requests before disabling it. **Test** and **Remove** appear on the same row.

Under **Available to download**, select **Download** beside the model you want. Wait for installation to finish before serving it. The catalogue depends on your account.

## General

-   **Start at login** launches Aventail Link when you sign in to your Mac.
-   **Theme** offers **System**, **Light** and **Dark**. System follows your desktop theme.

## Danger zone

**Uninstall Aventail Link…** is at the bottom of Preferences. Read [Uninstall Link](https://docs.aventail.co.uk/docs/link-app/uninstall) before using it; removal affects the local runtime and data.

**View the older Locai Link (Legacy Aventail) 1.x reference**

The older app used separate **Agent**, **Network** and **Advanced** panels. Agent contained Stop, Restart and Re-register; Advanced contained Logs, Root and Uninstall Locai Link. These controls are not the layout shown above.

1.  **Inspect the preferences window**
    
    Open Preferences from the Link menu. Check the Device identity and version, Agent status, installed Models and Network connection.

2.  **Use the Agent controls**
    
    Check whether the agent is running. Stop or Restart can interrupt serving; use Re-register only when you intend to change registration.

3.  **Open logs and installation files**
    
    In Advanced, use the Open buttons beside Logs and Root to inspect local files. Read the uninstall guide before using Uninstall Locai Link.
