# Link menu bar

After setup, click Aventail Link's **interlocking-rings icon** in the macOS menu bar.

### Use the Aventail Link menu

1.  **Open the Aventail menu**
    
    Click the interlocking-rings icon for status, Models, Control, Workspace and Preferences.

**Read the menu-bar guide**

The captured **Aventail Link 2.0.0** menu shows:

| Control | Use it to |
| --- | --- |
| Status header | See the node name and its connection status |
| Models | Open controls for this node's models |
| Open Control Plane | Open Control in your default browser |
| Open a Workspace | Open Workspace for chat |
| Preferences… | Check device health, manage models and choose startup or theme settings in [Preferences](https://docs.aventail.co.uk/docs/link-app/preferences) |
| Quit | Finish active requests before quitting; check the service status afterward |

Wait for a model's status to settle before changing it again. A model download and a running serving endpoint are different states.

### Locai Link (Legacy Aventail) 1.x tray reference

Historical Locai Link (Legacy Aventail) 1.x Linux captures; not the Aventail Link 2.0.0 menu.

1.  **Open the Link menu**
    
    Click the Locai Link (Legacy Aventail) icon to check agent status, open Control or Workspace, download models, or open Preferences.

2.  **Open the Models submenu**
    
    Point to Models to see installed models and their serving ports. Select a model to start or stop serving, then wait for its status to settle.

These preserved screenshots show the older Linux tray menu. Locai Link (Legacy Aventail) 1.x also offered **Download models…**; this item is not present in the captured Aventail 2.0.0 main menu.

In Locai Link (Legacy Aventail) 1.x, an incomplete setup could offer **Continue Setup…**. Check the account and device state before resuming; do not register repeatedly to recover a missing window.

## If the icon or status is wrong

For Aventail Link 2.0.0, check `aventail status` using the [full installed path](https://docs.aventail.co.uk/docs/link-app/file-locations). The old app in Applications, labelled **Locai Link**, and `locai status` belong to 1.x. See [Link troubleshooting](https://docs.aventail.co.uk/docs/link-app/troubleshooting) for an offline agent or a disconnected network.
